I first chanced upon Furoshiki when our colleague, Shahidah shared her furoshiki wrapper cloth with us. It is such a splendid idea whereby you can wrap it in any way you like to fit the items, and not let a fixed-size bag limit you.
After sitting on the thought for 2 years, and trying to make crochet cloth to knot it into a bag, I realised that it is futile. You will need to make a big piece of crochet cloth which most of the cloth will be made into knots, thereby making it inefficient and impractical to store items.
Finally a thought came by while browsing through Pinterest. I saw that you can play with different materials and different shapes to give it a furoshiki-finished look. Immediately, I pictured in my head how I can style the bag differently, giving a new look daily.
Excited, I whisked out my hook, pull out that interesting-looking yarn which I hardly used – Daruma Sasawashi – and crocheted away. Matched it with baby pastel colours from Hamanaka Paume 100% organic cotton to give it a soft and demure look.
Check out how my bag looks in different styles! Terrix and I have only figured out 5 ways, but I believe you can create 101 ways. Do share with us by tagging us on Instagram @tinyrabbithole! We hope to see your lovely outcomes soon 🙂
